Spectra Print Invests in Komori Lithrone GL40 advance Perfector to Offer Customers Greater Capacity Without Added Labor

Rolling Meadows, IL - May 24, 2022 -

Komori announced today that Spectra Print, a full-service commercial printer based in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, has purchased an eight-color Komori Lithrone G40 advance perfector (GL840P advance) with LED-UV. Spectra Print has been a family-owned commercial printer since 1930. Today the award-winning company, led by siblings Eric and Hans Hofmeister and Heidi Okray, creates, designs and produces top-quality printed materials that range from direct mail pieces to complex packaging. When deciding on a new press, the team analyzed the volume of projects and found that a huge percentage of the work was double-sided. This led to the decision to invest in Komori’s GL840P advance with LED-UV.

“We are excited about our new Komori press for so many reasons, particularly the perfecting capability,” said Eric Hofmeister, president, Spectra Print. “The change from a straight single-sided non-perfecting workflow to single pass two-sided perfecting makes it possible to produce our two-sided print jobs about two and a half times faster, significantly shortening our turnaround times. The LED allow us to turn jobs quickly, too, as applications come off the press completely cured, so we can take them right to the bindery. Additionally, we will be able to produce so much more on this press with the same amount of labor and offer more capacity to our customers all because of the advancements this press offers.”

Spectra Print also expects to save time and money in many other areas due to the new features the Komori GL840P advance provides. Given the current paper shortage commercial printers are experiencing, the start-up and running waste reduction will have a great effect. Additionally, Spectra Print is continually striving to use solutions that help create and ensure sustainability and appreciates that the press is designed to save energy and resources and reduce harmful chemical substances, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), released in the process.

“After years of working with Komori, we have operational data that shows how well these presses have performed, and for how long, and it is such a tribute to their engineering,” said Hofmeister. “I give Komori an extremely high recommendation based on our past experiences and we have no doubt that we are going to be very happy with this new press going forward.”
