In this series of posts about Pamarco company values, this episode is around “Togetherness”. These values took time and care to create. It is critical to follow values which support the culture we want to maintain and which also reflects us at our core. These values form the very fabric of our being and are what we live and stand by, defending their integrity and application at all costs with the hope that we create a positive and supportive work environment. Its what makes us completely unique compared to most other businesses. Lots of businesses do lots of positive things, but no-one else has the values that we do, they are unique to us and by default are our USP, because we operate and are led by our values first, above anything else. “Togetherness” is a word which came from our CEO Allan Li. It’s a word which perfectly describes something more than relationships, customer support, great service or employee empathy. It describes the network and systemic support mentality from all site members to work together on positive progress, pushing out negative traits and opposing silo thought processes which might focus on single person or department success. Phrases like “Its not my job” or “it’s not my problem” don’t belong here, we help our employee's and our customers, always. So many businesses unfortunately never grasp the power of togetherness and opt instead for departmentalised strategies with opposing goals which create an enormous amount of lost energy in going to war with your own peers. Reflecting on Three Decades in the Printing and Packaging Industry As I mark the completion of three decades in the printing and printed packaging industry, it's a momentous occasion for me to reflect on the journey that has shaped my career. Over these thirty years, I've navigated through various roles within small, medium, and large organizations in India, and I've even ventured into entrepreneurship. Through it all, one thing has remained constant: the dynamic nature of this industry. In the early years of my career, customer demands were relatively stable, with a modest need for innovation and adaptation. However, as time progressed, the landscape of the industry underwent significant transformations. The demand from large corporations for consistent quality supplies spurred the evolution of a few major players who could meet these requirements effectively. The last decade, in particular, has been characterized by a surge in demand for differentiation and novelty. Customers seem to crave something new and exciting every day, challenging businesses to keep pace with their evolving preferences. This demand cycle has not only transformed the products and services offered by the printing industry but has also reshaped the infrastructure requirements. In the initial years, the focus was on robust machinery capable of handling large volumes. Subsequently, there was a shift towards investing in finishing lines that could complement production processes effectively. However, in the present decade, the emphasis has shifted towards smaller, more specialized machines that can cater to the diverse needs of customers across the country. Additionally, the industry is no longer concentrated in specific geographical regions but has spread its reach far and wide. Amidst these changes, smaller players have emerged as frontrunners, leveraging their agility and adaptability to meet the evolving demands of the market. However, there are also opportunities for larger players to capitalize on this shift by consolidating smaller players under a unified umbrella. By doing so, they can streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and improve financial management. As I look back on my journey in the printing and packaging industry, I'm struck by the resilience and ingenuity that have defined this sector. While the challenges have been numerous, so too have the opportunities for growth and innovation. As we step into a new era marked by rapid change and uncertainty, I am excited to see how the industry will continue to evolve and thrive in the years to come.
